Why? Well, for many reasons. But mainly because both are related to your creative life force and both are about opening yourself up to pleasure and removing the shame related to asking for what you really want. 
And perhaps just the very idea of masturbation makes you uncomfortable.. in which case that feeling alone would be a good place to start and exploring the areas of your life where you might be lacking freedom. 
The cultural context we live in has spent hundreds of years filling us with guilt and shame, creating roadblocks to the life we really want.
